Park Pops Down
Written by Sammy on March 27, 2009 – 3:53 pm -This evening the Academy was thrilled to welcome Donald Park to our new facility. Donald was down at the Academy to deliver a coach in-service event hosted by Spartans FC and attended by Coaches from a range of different Youth Clubs.

Signing-up for Street Football

We are delighted to announce that over 30 local young people have signed a player’s contract enabling them to qualify for our street football programme. Our new player’s contract will help us to ensure that everyone can continue to enjoy the opportunity to play street football in safe place each day after school. In time, we hope to extend this programme to include set times for weekend play.

Kickstart Kickabout

Today was the final week of the Hibernian FC kickstart programme, which has been based at the Academy these past 2 months. To mark the occasion, the programme members played a challenge match against a team from the Canongate Youth Project. Thoughts now turn to the inaugural Spartans Academy ’Kickstart’ programme, a partnership programme with Careers Scotland and local youth agencies, which starts on Monday 30th March.

Four Dug Outs and a Trim

The Academy took delivery of 4 brand new dug outs this week, which have now been assembled. In addition, the grass pitch was trimmed today for the first time, in preparation for drainage works which will commence in the near future.

Car Park Not Available

Please note our Car Park is not open to the public today, Thursday 19th March. New markings have been painted today and as a result the car park is closed for the day. Normal service will be resumed with effect from Friday 20th March. We apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result.

Academy '4v4' Drive

Our new 4v4 Development Centre for North Edinburgh is now up and running. 12 Teams from Cramond, Leith Athletic, Lochend and Spartans all took part in the opening weekend. The new Centre operates on a Sunday morning, with effect from 9am-10.30am.

High School Physical

A group of 5th year students from Craigroyston Community HS became the first group of learners to use our new Learning Centre facilities today. The group of students will be based at the Academy each week when studying for their Higher PE qualification.

North Edinburgh United
Written by Sammy on March 9, 2009 – 12:02 pm -The Academy was delighted to host a friendly between North Edinburgh United and a select team from Arbroath on Sunday 8th March. NE United is a select team made up of players chosen from participants in the Sunday Night Super League (an Active Futures Programme based at and supported by the Academy). Players are chosen for the select team on the back of demonstrating excellent values such as teamwork, hard work and sportsmanship when taking part in the SNSL. Going forward we will continue to support North Edinburgh United by creating further opportunties to play and meet new people from other organisations and parts of Scotland.
