Four-far Competition Winners

4 lucky competition winners from Craigroyston Primary School have won the opportunity to be mascots for the day at Spartans 3rd round Scottish Cup tie against Forfar Athletic this Saturday.
Their winning designs will be used to create a new logo for the Craigroyston Health Hub, which is aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle choices in the local community.

Pumas pop by for Drop-Kick Around
Written by Sammy on November 23, 2009 – 10:59 am -The Academy is delighted to welcome and host the Argentinian National Rugby Team this week, as they prepare to play Scotland in a Test match at Murrayfield on Saturday 28th November, the same day Spartans entertain Forfar Athletic in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup.

A Coaching Fair-ground
Written by Sammy on November 17, 2009 – 10:54 am -The Academy delivered a football coaching day today for a group of young people from Fairbridge, one of our partner organisations. Looking to the future, in 2010 we hope to design and deliver a brand new numeracy and literacy programme called ’The Match’, which will be delivered in partnership with Fairbridge.

A SURF Commendation Celebration
Written by Sammy on November 9, 2009 – 5:25 am -The Academy has won a prestigious award from the Scottish Urban Regeneration Forum (SURF) Ltd., as part of it’s 2009 ’Best Practice in Community Regeneration’ Awards. In addition to the 3 competition category winners, a Highly Commended Certificate is awarded to one project in each category. The Academy has been awarded this Certificate, which is great news. A record number of >100 applications were received by SURF this year.

Spartans Read and White Army

The Academy is thrilled to announce the start of our latest community programme, our brand new Spartans Read & White Army project. Our latest project has been developed (and will be delivered) in partnership with Bfriends, CLAN and ourselves. To celebrate young people’s love of the beautiful game, we are compiling a book of short stories for distribution to local primary schools. The introduction to the book will be written by Moira Gordon, Sports Journalist for the Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday.

Saturday Night at the Academy

Never mind the movies, X Factor or Strictly, the Academy played host to our local neighbours The Black Community Development Project football tournament, arranged to co-incide with the Show Racism the Red Card campaign. 8 Teams took part in the tournament, including Teams representing Glasgow Answar and Glory & Dismay.
