Academy is Ashbrook Salvation
Written by Sammy on April 29, 2010 – 11:30 am -The Academy has stepped in to help out the local Salvation Army ‘Ashbrook LifeHouse’ centre (for homeless people) in their preparations for the nationwide SAHA Cup. ‘Team Ashbrook’ will work with and be coached by our Community Programme Manager Kenny Cameron.

SRtRC Famous Five

Over 100 P7 children from 4 local primary schools had a SRtRC day to remember at the Academy today, in what we hope will become an annual event.

Show Racism the Red Card Seminars
Written by Sammy on April 29, 2010 – 4:20 am -The Academy is delighted to be hosting 2 x educational seminars today. The event which is being held for P7 classes, is being attended by pupils from Forthview and St David’s in the morning, with pupils from Craigroyston and Trinity attending the afternoon seminar. The aim of the event is to provide anti-racist education in a safe, enjoyable and fun learning environment. The young people attending will watch a SRtRC film, following which they will take part in a Q&A session with a panel consisting of Dan Gerrard, Gary MacKay and Michael Weir.

And I would plant 400 Trees
Written by Sammy on April 22, 2010 – 5:56 am -With the help and support of a group of SKY employees, New Caledonian Woodlands are planting 400 small trees (along with native species hedge of dog rose, hawthorn, holly and blackthorn) at the Academy today, as part of a project to create a new Academy entrance point. In doing so, we hope to encourage local young people to use the new lane, rather than our neighbours gardens.

Shortlisted for National Award

A Flying FooTEA Start

Having a WII of a Time

The latest addition to the Academy resources was inveilled today, namely a new WII to go with our other recent new additions, the X-Box and Pool Table.
During the Easter school holidays, our Street Football in a Safe Place programme will run from 12pm-6pm each day (Monday to Friday).

New Over 35 League

The 2010 summer league will start on 2nd June and will be restricted to 8 Teams. Each Team will play 14 x 70 min competitive fixtures officiated by SFA qualified referees. A Scottish Cup Term ‘Finale’

Our School Visit Programme for the term just ended, finished on a real high at Royston Primary School yesterday.
John Kennedy (ex Celtic) was present, together with the Scottish Cup itself.
