Health Fair & Family Fun Day
Written by Sammy on June 30, 2010 – 11:42 am -The Academy was on hand to support local Forth Neighbourhood Partnership ‘Health Fair & Family Fun Day’. The event was arranged to showcase a range of new health improvement initiatives that have been set up across the Forth area.

Lasswade HS Teach others a Lesson

15 x 7 a side Teams took part in the annual schools teachers tournament at the Academy today. Lasswide High School successfully defended the trophy, they won last year (also at the Academy).

A Brighter Future

Kids Show their Mettle

Some 600+ primary school aged, from across the City and beyond, took part in a Kids of Steel triathlon event at the Academy on 15th June. The event, which was hosted and organised by Triathlon Scotland, was delivered in partnerhship with the Academy and APLC.

Climbing out of bed into the World Cup
Written by Sammy on June 11, 2010 – 5:14 am -The Academy hosted a festival of sport event in partnership with CEC today, to mark the start of the World Cup. Pupils from local primaries Wardie & Forthview took part in a soccer olympics event. They also enjoyed the added bonus of being able to do some rock climbing on site on the EICA Ratho mobile wall.

These Boots are made for Flying
Written by Sammy on June 11, 2010 – 4:36 am -Academy Youth Worker Amy Henderson has flown out to Uganda, to take part in a Winston Churchill Foundation funded trip of a lifetime. Whilst in Uganda for the next 4 weeks, Amy will be delivering coaching sessions to local children who will be invited to design sessions of their own. As part of her trip, Amy collected and has taken with her 60+ pairs of boots, to be donated to local children.

All Smiles at St Davids

Spartans Smilers, in partnership with the local NHS and Childsmile, is now underway at St Davids RC Primary School. 25 x P3 aged pupils are benefitting from our signature programme, with a further 75+ kids at P1 and p2 age levels participating in a p1-P3 tootbrushing programme at the school, for the first time ever.
Later in year, both Pirniehall and Forthview Primary Schools are lined-up to take part.
