The Spartans Community Football Academy

Works commenced this week on converting our stadium grass pitch into a new synthetic pitch.  The new 3G pitch (which is being laid by Greenfields) will be one of the best in Scotland.  It will be ready and available for play and hire in early to mid October.

As part of our summer holiday programme, young people enjoyed the opportunity to learn and test their archery skills for free today.

The Academy has joined forces with the SFA to offer the ‘Mars Just Play’ programme here at the Academy. The’ Mars Just Play’ Programme is designed to get more adults back playing football again by offering free football opportunities. Whether it’s a game your after, or just a simple kick about, Just Play offers you the opportunity to play football in your area.  Are you aged 18 and over? The Academy hosted a football event as part of the Play Practioners Forum summer provision on Tuesday afternoon; young people from the Academy, RWCC & MYDG took part in this free event.

The Academy Making Magic Memories summer programme is well underway, with trips to Port Royal Golf Range and Perth Leisure Centre (swimming) taking place in weeks 1 & 2.  Other activities arranged for the summer include Archery, Canoe-ing and a short residential for our pool of Academy Ambassadors.

The Academy is delighted to offer our customers a new 1-off ’no frills’ booking for 1-off lets in July.  During the month of July customers can book our excellent facilities for a one off price of £2 per player (minimum 10 players for 5 a side pitch and 14 players for a 7 a side pitch) at specific times.  The Easy-Let booking will include the use of a football and bibs for the duration of the let, however, if the let is between 6-10pm the hire of a deessing room is not included in the special promo price.  Simply come ready to play to enjoy this knock-down rate to play on some of the best maintened 3G pitches in Edinburgh.

The Academy summer holiday programme ‘Bend it Like Beesley’ is all set to start on Monday 4th July, with >40 players signed up for week 1 (however, some places are still available for all age groups).  To book a place for your son or daughter, please contact Debbi McCulloch or Lynsey Cowan on 552-7854.  BILB runs from 10am-12pm each day and the cost for the week is £30.
