On Tuesday afternoon the Academy hosted training sessions for both Scotland and Wales U17 national sides, in preparation for their challenge match, which will take place on the Academy stadium pitch on Wednesday night, kick off 7.30pm.

Sun Shines for Cain’s Birthday!

Cain Smith celebrated his 8th birthday party at The Academy on Saturday.

A long-standing member of our SCFA After School Programme, as well as a member of the Spartans Youth Section, Cain and his friends enjoyed 90mins of football madness before having their post-match food upstairs in the clubroom.

Along with the football skills, the sun shone bright as Academy Coach Lynsey Cowan entertained (hopefully) the squad with skill practices, fun games and small-sided matches.

Work Experience Placement x 2

Nursery Nutmegs @ WPNC

Our latest 4 week Nursery Nutmeg coaching programme started at West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre today. 12 x pre-school aged children took part in this ‘free provision’, being delivered in partnership with CLD.

Suspended Timetable Delivery

On Wednesday the Academy hosted a group of high school students from Craigmount High School, as part of their suspended timetable week. The mixed age group enjoyed a football coaching session in the am followed by a series of conditioned games in the pm.

On Saturday 25th May, one of our SCFA Midweek After School Club ‘Veterans’ enjoyed his birthday party here at the Academy. Fraser plus his 26 friends enjoyed a mini World Cup before refuelling upstairs in our Robertson Trust Suite. Happy Birthday Fraser!

Pitch Maintenance Works

As part of our Spring pitch pitch maintenance works all 3 synthetic pitches were brushed and de-compacted today. In addition, new pitch markings were painted on for all 3 x 7 a side pitches.

Dumbarton United AFC Drop-by

On Tuesday a group of senior officials from Dumbarton Utd AFC made a fact finding trip/visit to the Academy to hear all about the project, our construction journey, our work on and off the park in developing our Youth and Adult Sections, also to hear about our wide range of community programmes.

Smilers ‘Award Ceremony’ at Granton PS

On Wednesday 50 x p3 aged children at Granton PS received their Spartans Smilers graduation certificate and individual ‘gift bag’. For the first time a Smilers oral health education programme graduation event took place at a school assembly, where children from P4 & p5 where able to remember what it felt like to graduate, having graduated themselves in 2012 & 2011 respectively.

Tynie High School Visit

Pupils and staff from Tynecastle High School have been put through their paces over the past two days here at the Academy as part of their Suspended Timetable Programme. Academy coaches Stewart and Lynsey delivered a mixture of technical drills and small sided games to over 30 pupils over the two day period.
