Twenty S1 pupils from Tynecastle High School enjoyed a full days coaching at the Academy today as part of their suspended timetable. Academy Community Coaches Lynsey Cowan, Stewart Stout and Jason Tucker put the participants through their paces by delivering a variety of coaching drills and small sided games.

Breastfeeding Cafe

The Academy will be launching it’s new drop-in breastfeeding cafe on Monday 14th May. The cafe will provide local health visitors and midwifes with a place to offer advice, help and information around breastfeeding for mums and pregnant women. The cafe till place on a Monday lunchtime and run from 12.15pm to 1.45pm.

Kicking off at Granton PS

Our 5 week oral health programme, Spartans Smilers, delivered in partnership with our local NHS, started in Granton PS today. 55 x p3 aged children attended the sessions, our debut Smilers programme at Granton PS.

Institute of Groundsman Training Course

The Academy is hosting an IOG one day ‘Synthetic Grass Surfaces’ maintenance training course today. Clubs and facilities from all over Scotland are represented at the event.

Academy 8 x London 2012

6 x Ambassadors, together with Kenny and Stewart, enjoyed a tour of the new Olympic stadium today, followed by a visit to Leyton Orient. Both tours are part of the Ambassador residential taking place in the London this weekend.

6 x Academy Ambassadors head off to London today for our inaugural Ambassador residential. Supported and lead by Kenny, Stewart and Amy the highlight of the 4 day London trip will be a tour of the new Olympic Stadium and Park on Friday morning.

Pedro’s Saltire Award

Academy Volunteer Peter MacDonald became a Saltire Ambassador yesterday evening and was presented with a certificate to recognise his volunteering achievements here at the Academy. The Saltire Award is a national programme for young people between 12 and 25 years old and is designed to recognise achievements when individuals take part in volunteering. From everyone at the Academy well done Pedro and we are so proud of the journey you have undertaken.

SatSun Soccer

Our ‘SatSun Soccer’ coaching programme returns for 8 weeks after the Easter Holidays. Saturday/Sunday 21st and 22nd April to 9th and 10th June, with the Little Dribblers 3-4 years from 9am to 10am, Junior Soccer School 5-6 from 10am to 11am, Senior Soccer School 7-8 and on a Saturday we run a class for 9-10 years from 11am to 12pm . Pirniehall Health Week

On Tuesday our community coaches Stewart Stout and Lynsey Cowan delivered seven coaching sessions to over 120 children at Pirniehall Primary School aged from the nursery school to primary 5. This provision was part of Pirniehall’s Health Week where the school was participating in a variety of events from rugby, hockey and ulitmate fitness.
