Long-standing volunteer Jason Cross has just finished volunteering at Spartans Community Football Academy. He has been a great addition to the Spartans Youth Work Team and we are sorry to see him go.
"I started volunteering at the end of November 2015 with the FooTEA club and more recently as part of the SpartansAM team, as well as going to Hopscotch for a residential. Through my volunteering I can see what an impact Spartans Youth Work Team makes to the kids in the area. It has certainly opened my eyes to what actually goes on in the background which passers-by wouldn't notice. My time as a volunteer was really enjoyable - although challenging at times. I would like to think because I am a bit older that I maybe gave that wee bit of advice that comes from experience. I enjoyed every minute at all the clubs but I would say that the highlight was going to the Hopscotch residential with the kids. One of the other things that has been great is seeing the participants at the clubs becoming volunteers, there’s a few already doing it and doing it well. I always say to the kids that life is about making the right choices and knowing when to make them. I can see them making the right choices and that's brilliant. For anyone wanting to volunteer I'd day definitely do it at Spartans - you become part of a great team and everyone makes you so welcome. I am sad to leave but I am moving onto great things in my life. I will always keep an eye out with what's going on at Spartans Youth Work!"
Thank you Jason for all your hard work - we wish you all the best in your new life adventures.
