Charity Dinner 2019

On the back of so many people going above and beyond to help and support us to raise funds for the charity, the lasting feeling from this year's dinner is that it was extra special.

Every year we hold onto our breath and wonder what will happen at the Charity Dinner. Every year we are humbled and truly thankful for the support that we receive. This year was no exception and was made more amazing in the face of having to cope with some last minute challenges such as our guest entertainer pulling out 24 hours before the big night. Between them, Lindsay and Allan Fraser worked wonders (again) and were able to convince comedian and Academy Ambassador, Jason Byrne, to fly over from Dublin to step in. A huge word of thanks to Jason for supporting us at such short notice and to Lindsay and Allan whose hard work and commitment make this annual event such a special night.

With our guests having enjoyed a wonderful meal at The Prestonfield House Hotel, followed by a game of "Hit or Miss" hosted by Grant Stott, the evening quickly moved onto the grand auction hosted by Andy Nicol. There were fantastic winning bids for amazing prizes that included the ultimate golfing weekend at Gullane with accommodation and food at the Bonnie Badger.

Next up, guests were enraptured by words of wisdom and some candid reflections from Gary Neville. His interview provided everyone with a window into his professional football life, including his time at Manchester United under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson and also an insight into what it was like to be a part of the famous "Class of '92".

Then, just as everyone thought it was all over, there was a dramatic end and final highlight to the night when Gary spontaneously announced that he'd like to donate an auction item - the chance to play a 5 a-side game against the "Class of '92" on the rooftop of Hotel 92, located next to Old Trafford. As you can imagine, the room went wild. So much so that a Gary kindly donated a second game! We are immensely grateful to Gary and to those that made the winning bids for their amazing acts of kindness and generosity which rounded off another great night in spectacular fashion.

A final thanks to everyone who came along on the night, to all the people who donated auction prizes and to everyone who made auction bids. With your help and support we are able to continue to change lives for the better in North Edinburgh.
