In what has been the most turbulent and challenging two months since we opened our doors, working with our local partners and through the support of so many others, The Academy has played it’s part in creating a bridge of support for local families.
Our first deliveries of 18 family food parcels were delivered on Friday 20th March. Today, some 8 weeks on and the Academy will distribute c.1,000 packed lunches, 40 ready meals, 20 family food parcels. Tomorrow a further 100 x ‘1 day food packs’ will be distributed.
This short film has been created to provide you with an insight into our journey from a sports facility into a temporary food distribution hub. It’s also been created to enable us to say ‘thank you’ to the numerous people who have helped us to help others. e.g. local community partner organisations, our funders, individual donors, wider partners and ‘The Spartans Family’. Without your kindness, compassion, desire and willingness to work together as one, we would not have been able to help local families in such a wide variety of meaningful ways, on such a large scale. Thank you.
Although the future remains uncertain and filled with huge challenges. In just 8 short weeks, relationships and collaborations have been built which can and do offer us some hope for the future. Real hope that we can address some of the inequalities which sadly exist in our local community (and wider society as a whole). Hope that people can and will continue to work together as one to serve a greater good.
If you can and would like to make a donation to support our efforts, please donate here. Thanks.
