Magic Memories at Hampden

Friday 7th of September, saw the Academy's youth work team take a group of young people to Hampden to watch the men's national team play Belgium.

With some of the world's best players in action everyone was buzzing for the game from the get go.  Youth worker Chris and Lesley (our much appreciated driver for the day) accompanied 13 young people to the game. For 4 of the participants this was their first trip to Hampden and their first Scotland game.

We arrived at the game a little earlier than expected and killed some time by sampling the delicacies of the local "chippy”. With everyone tucking into some chips before the match we were ready to go into the stadium.  A few of the guys bought flags, scarves and hats before we got into the stadium and we got really into the spirit of the game.

The final score was 4-0 to Belgium, not the result we'd hoped for. However, we got to see world class players like Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, Andrew Robertson and John McGinn which more than made up for the disappointment!

During the drive home everyone agreed that it was a great night. We hope it will be an experience that is remembered for a long time.
