Youth Work

Liam

Street Football in a Safe Place was the first social impact programme at the Spartans Community Football Academy. Young people can play football for free at The Academy after school and during the holidays. Sessions are supervised by our youth work team. Liam joined us at Street Football when he was in Primary 5 - and he now has a job with us!

"I came to Spartans because Kenny (youth worker) said that I could come down. The first time I came I was by myself. I was nervous but I've got lots of friends now at Spartans. I play in the Connections team. Spartans FC is my favourite team. I go to all the matches if I can - it gets me out the house. They won the league in 2017/18 - it made me really happy! My favourite player is Blair Henderson, he's really fast. I used to help at Breakfast Club with the kids. Now I have a job - I'm an assistant helping keep the place in shape and helping out at games."

"If you could sum what we are all about into one person it would be Liam - a kid who came along to make friends, who volunteered his time in youth work and who now has a job with us - we are so delighted and privileged to have Liam on the team."
