Women's team player

Her love of football was ignited at The Academy and that passion has taken her to gain Scottish representative honours.

I came to FooTEA when I was 12. Amy the youth worker asked me if I wanted to join and I came with my friend Georgia. I was nervous at the start but I made good friends. I got to go on holiday at Hopscotch and go on trips with Magic Memories.

I think that it made me a better person – I got to meet people and got more confident. If anything went wrong you could tell the youth workers.

I have just started to play for Spartans FC women’s team. We are in a good league so my fitness and skills will get better. I’m 15 - the youngest on the team. The others look after me. I am in the Scottish National U17 squad but I want to get into the A squad. I just started on a sports scholarship at Heriot Watt University – we get to train two times a day and study things like sports psychology and coaching.

Michaela's first love is football and FooTEA club on Fridays was made for her! It's really fantastic that she has now joined the football club and we are all behind Michaela's goal to get into the National A Squad. She's a great role model for all the girls at The Academy.
