Ambassador
The Spartans Community Football Academy is privileged and delighted to have a number of well-known local individuals including Tom Kitchin, who support and promote our organisation. Tom is a multi-award winning, Michelin-starred chef, based in North Edinburgh. He is a well-known face on television having appeared on BBC's Saturday Kitchen, UKTV Food's Market Kitchen and in the BBC series, The Great British Menu. Tom is passionate about educating young people about nutrition and food. He is also passionate about football.
“I’m really proud to be an Ambassador for The Spartans Community Football Academy. The work The Academy’s team are doing within the Edinburgh community is truly inspiring and being part of something that combines two of my biggest passions, football and food, is exciting."
“I recently helped to launch The Spartans AM Breakfast Club which provides children from North Edinburgh with a healthy breakfast and a place to get together on Saturday mornings. As a father of four myself, I know how important it is for young people to have a healthy, nutritious breakfast, so The Spartans AM Breakfast Club is an initiative I’m incredibly passionate about, and I really admire what the team are setting out to do. We should be trying to inspire youngsters to learn more about the fantastic local produce we have here in Scotland and how this can be incorporated into their daily lives. It’s been a pleasure meeting the young people who attend the club and hearing their stories, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it develops.”
"We are delighted to have Tom's support at The Academy - he is a real inspiration and role model for our kids. He can teach us about cooking and nutrition, and we can teach him some football skills!"
We develop and deliver programmes in youth work and education. We operate our facilities and community coaching programmes as a social enterprise, reinvesting profits back into the business to support our positive social impact in the community.
